Well, training is now under way for our 969 mile charity cycle ride for Willow Wood Hospice.
The training consists of two power gym sessions where I have teamed up with local PT Paul Higham. I also do one mid week ride out on the bike, plus another 35 mile+ ride out every Sunday.
The gym sessions are hard going, i'm in there for 7am and that means i'm up at 5am having a pre training breakfast.
Training consists of stretching and mobility, dead lifts, squats, lunges, power press and wide grip pull ups on Olympic rings.
I am doing a number of local cycle routes around Penistone, Deepcar, Holmfirth and High Peak, where there's an abundance of testing climbs.
Over the next few weeks and months, training will step up dramatically which will mean increased distances, tougher rides and of course, further strength development in the gym. It's been a good start so far and hopefully, I may be actually able to enjoy the time in the saddle.
